1st Technical Inspection (scrutineering) for all Borneo Safari participants. Registration and payments. Venue Zone: Kota Kinabalu, Keningau, Sandakan & Tawau.

19th & 20th October, 2013
Saturday/Sunday (10.00am – 5.00pm)

2nd Technical Inspection (scrutineering) for all Borneo Safari participants. Registration and payments. Distribution of stickers. Venue Zone: Kota Kinabalu, Keningau, Sandakan & Tawau.

BORNEO 4WD & OUTDOOR SHOWGROUND

25th October, 2013 - Friday
(9.00am – 5.00pm)
9.00am – Official Launch of 2nd Borneo 4WD & Outdoor Show.
VENUE: Dataran Bandaraya, Kota Kinabalu Waterfront

10.00am – 3rd Technical Inspection (scrutineering) for International Participants only.

Vehicle Stickers Scrutineering – all participants must get their vehicle inspected to receive an approval slip from the Vehicle Scrutineering Manager.

26th October, 2013 - Saturday

Second day of 2nd Borneo 4WD & Outdoor Show (9.00am – 7.00pm)
VENUE: Dataran Bandaraya, Kota Kinabalu Waterfront

9.30am – General Briefing for Competitors and Participants (compulsory for all participants).
10.30am – Individual Group Briefing – all participants must meet their respective team leaders – Promenade Hotel
11.00pm – High Tea for all participants – Promenade Hotel
1.00pm – Distribution of event t-shirts and Official Programme Book to all participants. Please ensure that you present your vehicle sticker approval slip during collection – Promenade Hotel


XTREME TRUS MADI TRACK

27th October, 2013 - Sunday

Last day of 2nd Borneo 4WD Outdoor Show (10.00am – 4.00pm)
VENUE: Dataran Bandaraya, Kota Kinabalu Waterfront

DAY 1

9.00am - Ceremonial Flag Off of Borneo Safari at Showground by Guest of Honor.

Competitor Convoy: Proceed straight to Tamparuli town located 20 Kms from City of Kota Kinabalu for SS 1 & 2 (accessible by the public). Residence, photographers and tourists in the vicinity of Kota Kinabalu city are highly encourage come to see more SS action! After the SS, convoy will proceed Day 1 Campsite location at KampungPahu, Kiulu.

Expedition Convoy: After flag-off, enjoy a scenic drive to the Crocker Range up KampungKokkol to view breathtaking view of Kota Kinabalu from St. Joseph Chapel, Kg. Kokkol. Convoy will proceed to the back of KampungKokkol towards Kiulu through scenic drive with excellent view of Mt. Kinabalu, Malaysia’s tallest mountain.

When arrive at KampungPahu, participants will enjoy bonding and CSR projects with the local community with a bond fire at night. (*more info to be released)

28th October, 2013 - Monday
DAY 2


Competitor Convoy: Proceed from KampungPahu (uphill technical section) north west towards Mt. Kinabalu and exit at Kg. Nabalu and proceed to Ranau for refueling and SS 3 & 4 (accessible by the public). After completing Special Stages, convoy will proceed straight towards Kg. Tampias Campsite beside the Liwagu River. Proceed to compete for SS 5 & 6 at KampungTampias Campsite (accessible by the public).

Expedition Convoy: Proceed from KampungPahu (uphill technical section) north west towards Mt. Kinabalu and exit at Kg. Nabalu and proceed to Ranau for refueling. After refueling, convoy will proceed straight towards Kg. Tampias Campsite beside the Liwagu River. Convoy will be tested with off road sections, hills and river crossings.

29th October, 2013 - Tuesday
DAY 3 – HARD CORE DAY

Competitor Convoy: From KampungTampias Campsite proceed out to Ranau-Telupid main road towards Anika Desiran Campsite. Proceed to compete for SS 7 & 8 and Night SS 9.

Expedition Convoy: Proceed from KampungTampias Campsite towards Anika Desiran’s Forest Management Unit, FMU 5 over super hard core 18Km section towards Anika Desiran Campsite within FMU 5. For those who could not finish the hardcore section, be prepared to spend 1 night on make shift campsite on the hard core track. Test your technical and winching skills!
 




30th October, 2013 - Wednesday
DAY 4 – HARD CORE DAY

Competitor Convoy: From Anika Desiran Campsite, proceed to the town of Sook for refueling. After refueling proceed to the Special Stage track at Kg. Sook to compete for SS 10 & 11. After completing, proceed to enter the TrusMadi Forest through the ApinApin Gate to the TrusMadi Base Camp Site.

Expedition Convoy: Continue from Day 3 make shift campsite towards super hard core 18Km section towards Anika Desiran Campsite within FMU 5. Test your technical and winching skills!

31st October, 2013 - Thursday
DAY 5 – Adventure in the Highlands – TrusMadi Forest Reserve


Competitor Convoy: Proceed to Day 5 Campsite at base of Mount TrusMadi. Free and Easy for preparation for full day SS 12 to 18 on Day 6. Rest and Recover.

Expedition Convoy: From Anika Desiran Campsite, proceed to the town of Sook for refueling. After refueling proceed straight to enter the TrusMadi Forest to ApinApin Base Campsite. Rest and Recover.

Mount TrusMadi Climbing Expedition: Climbing Team will proceed to Day 5 Campsite at base of Mount TrusMadi. Free and Easy for preparation for early morning climb on Day 6.

1st November, 2013 – Friday
Day 6 – Adventure in the Highlands – TrusMadi Forest Reserve

Competitor Convoy: From competitor campsite, full day continuous SS from 12 to 18 from base camp site to ApinApin campsite. First of its kind this year for Borneo Safari, SS12 to 18 is conducted concurrently for a full day SS over 40 KMs track!

Expedition Convoy: At the TrusMadi campsite, convoy can spend a day exploring the trails of the TrusMadi Forest Reserve. The Borneo Safari 2013 will also proceed to plant 300 seedlings at TrusMadi Forest Reserve that area that was destroyed by forest fires, as part of its environmental awareness project. The event plans to highlight the causes, impact and prevention of forest fires on the forest in our event this year.

Mount TrusMadi Climbing Expedition: Participants and members of the media who wished to scale the 2nd highest mountain in Malaysia after Mt. Kinabalu will proceed to climb mount TrusMadi. Climbers will start the climb at 9.00 am and will camp over night at the summit of Mt. TrusMadi. Climbers will reached the summit by 4.00 pm and will enjoy the majestic sunsets and later sunrise in the morning. The climbing members will plan a plaque at the summit of Mt. TrusMadi for the event at Taman Mannam, Mount TrusMadi. Climbers will start to descend from the peak after break fast at 9.00 am and will reach base camp around 2.00 pm.

2nd November, 2013 – Saturday
Day 7 – Adventure in the Highlands – TrusMadi Forest Reserve

All Convoy: After breakfast proceed out of the TrusMadi Forest Reserve through the ApinApin gate to Keningau-Tambunan highway and re-enter the TrusMadi Forest Reserve to second hardcore 30 Km section to Maraguang Campsite beside the Maraguang river. Test your technical and winching skills!

3rd November, 2013 - Sunday
Day 8 – Tambunan Showdown & Closing Ceremony

Convoy will start the day by proceeding to Tambunan ground in the morning and welcomed by Guest of Honor for the flagging off of SS 19 & 20. There will be cultural dance and the public is welcomed to see more 4WD actions!

After the final showdown of the final SS 20. After the final SS, convoy will proceed from Tambunan SS ground to Kota Kinabalu for the closing ceremony. The closing ceremony will be held at 7:00 pm at a Ocean Seafood Restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. Venue and guest of honor to be confirmed.


THE END

GENERAL REMINDER
A. Bring along rain gear as it will be wet!
B. Bring adequate drinking water.
C. Pack a mosquito net in case of sandflies at riverside campsites.
D. Bring warm clothing for areas of high elevation Day 4 onwards.
E. Additional fuel – at least 40 litres.
F. Bring a hoe/cangkul as you will need this at the hardcore sections.
G. Get your malaria vaccination stated at least 5 days before flag-off.
H. All participants including TAG-ONs are expected to help each other during the 8-day event.
